Looking after your shoulder rest

If your 're wondering what a shoulder rest is, you need only read this article if you play the violin or viola. A shoulder rest is a very handy device that helps us achieve the best posture and comfort when playing.

You should always store your shoulder rest in its case when not being used and be aware when it may need replacing. Often the first sign of a bad shoulder rest is when it slips off the violin/viola. You may need to replace the rubbers or feet of the shoulder rest. These are the parts that hold on to the instrument. Replacement rubbers and feet are very inexpensive and would be a great investment to make your life much easier.

If your shoulder rest is uncomfortable we have many different types to suit your needs. Finding the right one is very important so I recommend coming into our store and trying them for yourself.
