The main issue with student bows is that they should be strong enough without being too heavy. The average weight of a cello bow is 81 grams. In student bows, this may vary by +/- 4 grams. This bow is 'half' mounted, meaning, the frog has no metal inlay at the very back. The absense of this feature does not in itself contribute to the strength or weakness of the bow stick. It is mainly a cosmetic issue.
